Are you a published author?
Self-published, yes, traditionally published, no. I would love to be traditionally published someday. At the moment I am in the market for a literary agent.
What inspires you?
What doesn’t inspire me?! I suppose my particular brand of writing is a product of my upbringing. I was born in the early 80s, during the golden age of epic fantasy movies (with glorious practical effects). I was raised on things like Dragon Slayer, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, Conan the Barbarian, Beastmaster…and my all-time most favorite movie – Willow. The first thing I ever remember my father teaching me was how to draw a dragon. He made sure to emphasize how important wings, scales, and breathing fire were. To this day Dragons, and all that they represent, are the most powerful and important symbol in my life. I’ve always loved all things fantasy; from movies to video games, to art, and yes, even to my taste in music. Power Metal is just teeming with great epic fantasy themes. I’m a HUGE Dio fan! If you can’t clearly tell – I’m a born and bred nerd, but a proud one. My nerddom does not end with fantasy, oh no. I also love science fiction, horror, and comedy.
Do you have any degrees?
I have a BA in English Literature (and 4 AA degrees). I chose my major because I wanted to be a better writer.
